FAQs
What is Pediatric Massage?
Pediatric massage is specifically intended to promote health and well-being for children and adolescents. I, as a Certified Pediatric Massage Therapist (CPMT®), have received specialized training to provide pediatric massage. The aim of pediatric massage is typically to help provide comfort and pain relief to children who may have an illness, injury or medical condition.
Children are more than just small adults. They have unique developmental needs - physically, mentally and emotionally. Massage therapy is adapted to the individual needs of each child.
What can I expect at a pediatric massage session?
Pediatric patients will be clothed at all times. A parent or caregiver must be present and will often be involved in the session - depending on age and goals of the child. The massage techniques will be performed with the child in a safe and comfortable position. Sessions usually are shorter and may include education for the parent(s) on how to provide massage.
How often will my child need services?
Every child is unique and has individualized needs. I will work with each family to develop a plan to suit your needs, both financially and with scheduling. I also teach massage to families so that you may use the techniques yourself in your home.
What is Autism Touch Therapy?
Autism Touch Therapy is an innovative and non-invasive approach to addressing a child’s development, treatment and symptoms, specifically targeted to toddlers-adolescents. We use a variety of objects that the child likes, such as toy cars, a hairbrush, even a puppet, to provide sensory input. The goal is to familiarize the child with sensory input to help minimize sensory overload. We also provide resources for parents and family members to provide their own therapy at home.
Can I book a massage if I don’t have children?
Absolutely! I have been a License Massage Therapist for over 12 years and am a graduate of Northwest Academy of the Healing Arts. My training was in clinical massage but my approach is a combination of nurturing touch and therapeutic massage. I believe that all members of the family & community deserve compassionate caring touch.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept cash or debit/credit card. While I do not accept insurance at this time, I do price my services in an extremely attainable way. If there is a service you are interested in and are concerned about cost, please contact me to discuss personalized options.
